ZIMEC 2027: The Zambia International Mining and Energy Conference Returns for its 14th Edition from 15 to 16 April 2027

KITWE, ZAMBIA, October 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The annual Zambia International Mining and Energy Conference and Exhibition (ZIMEC) will return to the Zambian Copperbelt for its 14th edition on 15–16 April 2027 in Kitwe, Zambia. The event will connect government leaders, mining and energy executives, investors and technology partners to advance projects and strengthen their contribution to Zambia’s industrial development.

ZIMEC’s 2026 edition was held under the High Patronage of His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, who officially opened the conference in Kitwe. The event was organised by AME Trade in partnership with Zambia’s Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development, the Ministry of Energy, the Zambia Development Agency, the Industrial Development Corporation and the Association of Zambian Mineral Exploration Companies (AZMEC), among other partners. ZIMEC 2026 brought together more than 600 attendees, 70 speakers, 34 exhibitors and 21 sponsors from 29 countries for two days of industry dialogue and networking, reinforcing its role in connecting Zambia’s mining and energy sectors with regional and international partners.

Under the theme “Growing Zambia: Accelerating Mining and Energy Investment for Industrialisation”, ZIMEC 2027 will reflect the priorities of the government’s Grow Zambia Agenda, linking increased production with reliable electricity, competitive mineral processing and greater participation by Zambian businesses and skilled workers. International investment and regional partnerships will be examined through their contribution to Zambia’s economic priorities.

A major feature of the 2027 programme will be the Zambia Power Investment Forum: Financing the Path to 10,000 MW, a dedicated forum within the main plenary programme on the morning of Day 2. Two linked discussions will examine bankable electricity markets and the generation and grid investments needed to support Zambia’s installed-capacity ambition. A ministerial policy address is planned to set out government priorities and the investment outlook, connecting policy leadership with the practical requirements of developers, financiers and electricity customers.

A high-level roundtable is also planned to bring together regional ministers responsible for mining and energy to discuss investment, electricity security and industrial development. The discussion will explore how cross-border cooperation can advance Zambia’s industrialisation while creating shared economic opportunities across the region.

The conference programme will address key priorities including:
- Assessing copper production progress: Reviewing gains, project milestones and delivery gaps against Zambia’s ambition to produce three million tonnes annually by 2031, and identifying the actions needed to sustain or accelerate growth.
- Strengthening investment certainty: Improving regulatory implementation, licensing and responsible project development while addressing environmental protection, community engagement and investor obligations.
- Accelerating mineral discovery: Reviewing Zambia’s Countrywide High-Resolution Aerial Geophysical Survey and access to its data, alongside exploration opportunities beyond copper and geological support for artisanal and small-scale miners.
- Building competitive mineral value chains: Examining commercially viable processing, refining and manufacturing opportunities that retain more value within Zambia.
- Connecting mines and industry to markets: Assessing how Lobito, TAZARA and domestic infrastructure can improve logistics, competitiveness and market access for Zambian producers.
- Mobilising project capital: Connecting project preparation with domestic and international investment, appropriate risk mitigation and the requirements for reaching financial close.
- Growing Zambian enterprises and skilled employment: Turning local participation priorities into supplier opportunities, stronger technical capability and sustainable jobs.

An international exhibition alongside the conference will provide opportunities for companies to present equipment, technologies and services relevant to Zambia’s mining and energy sectors. Networking sessions and evening functions will connect delegates with prospective customers, investors and partners, bringing together decision-makers across government, industry and the financial community.

ZIMEC offers companies opportunities to build visibility and develop commercial relationships through sponsorship, exhibition participation and contributions to the conference programme. The 2027 edition will focus on practical partnerships that translate responsible investment into production, dependable electricity and lasting economic opportunities for Zambians.
